Betway joins Dutch Online Gambling Association

| By Robert Fletcher
The Netherlands Online Gambling Association (NOGA) has announced betting and gaming operator Betway as its latest member, ahead of the launch of the country's regulated igaming market next year.

Betway joins the likes of bet365, Betsson Group, Dazzletag, Entain (previously GVC Holdings), Flutter Entertainment and Kindred Group as members of the NOGA.

The NOGA said it expects to add more new members in the coming months, prior to the launch of online gambling in September 2021.

“Betway is one of the world’s leading providers of premium entertainment in sports betting, casino and esports betting; we look forward to the experience that Betway will bring to our association,” NOGA chief executive Peter-Paul de Goeij said.

“We also see it as a clear sign that more and more operators are seeing the benefit of joining NOGA in the run-up to the opening of the online market in the Netherlands.”

Betway’s director of compliance and regulatory affairs, Roger Parkes, added: “Betway is committed to providing its customers with a safe and entertaining leisure activity and is confident that NOGA will support the industry and reassure the regulator leading to a successful regulated Dutch market.”

Online gambling in the country was initially due to launch on 1 January, 2021, in line with the country’s new Remote Gambling Act, but in November last year, regulator the Kansspelautoriteit (KSA) pushed back the launch date to 1 July, 2021.

This was delayed again in September this year, with the Remote Gambling Act now set to come into effect from 1 March 2021,and the market launching on 1 September.
