The sportsbook complements its retail presence in the city’s Capital One Arena, though will only be available within a two-block radius of that property.
This is due to the regulations passed by the DC Council, which gives the DC Lottery’s Intralot-powered Gambet app exclusive rights to offer mobile wagering across the city.
The app, which is now available for download on Apple or Android devices, offers a range of markets and bet types, such as parlay cards and in-play options.
Its roll-out follows the opening of the operator’s temporary sportsbook at the Capital One Arena in July, with a permanent location in the stadium currently under construction.
This was facilitated by a deal with the stadium’s parent company Monumental Sports & Entertainment, which also owns the Washington Wizards and Washington Mystics basketball franchises, and the National Hockey League’s Washington Capitals.
The retail location has proved particularly successful, consistently outperforming Gambet.
