Horse race timing technology supplier Total Performance Data (TPD) has struck a partnership with Argentine racecourse Hipódromo Argentino de Palermo.

Under the agreement, which TPD described as a “landmark” deal, the company will install its race timing technology at the Buenos Aires venue.

This will permit TPD to distribute the resulting data worldwide, independent of picture rights, with the service due to launch later this year.

TPD already has similar deals in place with a number of racecourses in the UK, including all 16 venues owned by the Arena Racing Company.

Will Duff Gordon, chief executive of TPD, said: “The data we are drawing for racecourses around the world has the power to reinvent the way people interact with and bet on horseracing, and to bring it to Argentina for the first time is a major step in this process.”
